LAPLANDUK

We worked with the spectacular immersive Christmas experience to communicate it was ‘open for business’ in a Covid safe way…

ABOUT THE PROJECT

Lapland UK reopens for business post-Covid

When you get a call asking if you want to work with LaplandUK – the UK’s leading immersive and theatrical family Christmas experience – there can only be one answer: sign us up, St Nick! This was a brief that any publicist would find truly irresistible, with multiple challenges and obstacles – global pandemic anyone – to overcome.

But just like Father Christmas and his elves off to work we went…and there was a very clear task in hand: to position LaplandUK as a Great British business that through the trials and tribulations of 2020 had managed to create a Covid-safe event from scratch and get it open, whilst adhering to all Government guidelines giving customers a wonderful wintery escapism without compromising any of the magic that the event is famous for.

This brief had everything from ensuring the experience was positioned as the only immersive experience of its size and scale to open during Christmas 2020, to creating and managing the Covid messaging and communications and positioning the founders as plucky leaders of this incredible business.

Creatively, our team refreshed the media assets and show imagery, dialing up the incredible attention to detail, production values and overall aesthetic of this spectacular event.

LaplandUK knew they couldn’t let the children down this Covid Christmas and we knew we couldn’t let them down and we certainly didn’t.  With over 55k people through the door in four weeks and 96 pieces of coverage across national and consumer lifestyle media our message got out loud and clear – we were open for families to make ever lasting memories together at Christmas.

We had media firsts for LaplandUK including a 7 minute live broadcast from the event on This Morning the day before opening; business interviews on Sky News, a live spot on BBC News on the day of opening as well as features and blanket coverage across all of the biggest national newspapers.

On social, influencers from Joe Wicks to David Walliams shared their experience while attending the event.

It was a lot of work and, like the Big Man himself, we delivered. We look forward to working with the LaplandUK team on an ongoing basis.
