Secret Cinema launches Drive-In and Secret Sofa

What do you do if you’re the leading global immersive entertainment brand, universally known for creating spectacular experiential movie experiences that bring people together for a night of unadulterated escapism? You reimagine the Secret Cinema experience through a delicious partnership with Häagen Dazs by creating a home-entertainment series and by revvvvveling in the romance and Americana of the classic drive-in format.

Our first scene tells the story of the now multi award-winning Secret Sofa. Created to add some much-needed Secret Cinema escapism during lockdown, Secret Sofa ran over a period of eight-weeks during the peak of the pandemic. Every Friday, thousands of cinephiles came together – safely we might add – to share their love of movies by participating in the world's greatest virtual film club turning their living rooms into film sets. With bespoke content, character narratives, interactive elements and typical Secret Cinema surprises this was just what the nation needed. And the media thought so too with over 290 pieces of coverage across national, consumer lifestyle and business media that contributed to an array of awards for Secret Cinema.

From starting your computer, to starting your engine!

When restrictions eased, Secret Cinema were ready to reimagine its iconic event format yet again. In June we launched the sell-out Secret Cinema presents The Drive-In held at the beautiful and quintessentially British Goodwood Motor Circuit. Hosted by the originally wild and audacious Frankie and Johnny Starlight, Secret Cinema presents The Drive-In was the Rolls Royse of drive-in movie events, leaving its rivals floundering in the dust. With theatrical elements, DJ’s and some loud beeping (any drive-in worth it's asphalt would encourage a toot toot), the drive-in gave audiences the freedom to watch iconic and beloved movies in a completely covid-safe environment during the summer. Don’t just take our word for it: Secret Cinema presents The Drive-In delighted media as well as consumers, delivering an astonishing 270 pieces of coverage, for a three week event across consumer lifestyle, national and business media with an exceptionally good live broadcast from the team at BBC South.
